Sometimes You Lose All the Time
Comics About Writing
Vain, self-obsessed, grasping ... filled with corroding AA batteries and overcooked butternut squash ... writers are truly terrible people. *Fact.*
Soft cover, 5 x 8 inches, full-colour throughout.
I belong to a Facebook group called Bitter Writers. It's a group where members complain about the writing life and openly question their decision to write. But instead of reporting in on being treated badly (newsflash: it goes on and on, forever), I use the group as more of a forum for ridiculing writers themselves, their extreme narcissism and inverted infernos of self-loathing.
And so: this little book is fifty pages of captioned comics about writers and writers ... about irrational patterns of unhinged, hysterical behaviour and the self-inflicted psychological carnage that ensues. In pulp and motivational poster form!
“Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, well on the way to pickling himself to death
"But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated."
― Ernest Hemingway, just before he pulled the trigger
“Please give me some good advice in your next letter. I promise not to follow it. ”
― Edna St. Vincent Millay, just finishing her eighth drink of the morning
Every copy comes with a work of library card art –– perfect as a bookmark.
